WORK PHILOSOPHY
From the moment we are born, we are bombarded with messages telling us that we are not enough. We are not thin enough, strong enough, or attractive enough. We are not masculine or feminine enough, or we are not emotionally or sexually fulfilling enough. It's no wonder that so many of us struggle to connect with our emotions and our bodies, both sexually and non-sexually.
Sex positivity is key. I believe that sexuality and intimacy are integral components of our overall well-being. By helping individuals and partners embrace their sexual selves, I aim to facilitate connection, pleasure, and fulfillment in all areas of life. Together, we can explore the ways in which your sexuality and relationships intersect and work to create a life that is not only pleasurable, but also playful, satisfying, and authentically you.
My ultimate goal as your therapist is to establish a genuine, direct relationship with you, one built on empathy, respect, and trust. By understanding your strengths, values, and perspectives, I can work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that meets your individual and relational needs and preferences. With my extensive training and certification, I have honed a diverse set of clinical skills that allow me to tailor our sessions to your specific concerns, experiences, and identities.
WORKING TOGETHER
Below are some of the ways I engage different identities and experiences in my work:
Queer-Informed: As your therapist, I provide a safe and inclusive space for you to explore and celebrate your gender and sexual identity. My queer-informed approach means that I am mindful of using gender-neutral language and avoid making assumptions about your gender or sexual orientation. I am knowledgeable about the challenges and experiences faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals and can help you navigate these aspects of your life with empathy and understanding.
Trauma-Informed: If you have experienced past traumas, you deserve a therapist who prioritizes your safety and healing. That's why I am trauma-informed and prioritize creating a supportive environment for you to explore and process these experiences. With grounding exercises and mindfulness practices, I can help you manage overwhelming emotions and sensations. I am also certified in the Internal Family Systems model, an evidence-based practice that can help you process and heal from past traumatic experiences.
Poly/Kink Knowledgable: Are you in a non-traditional relationship structure or engage in alternative sexual practices? I understand the challenges and stigma faced by individuals who practice polyamory, BDSM, and other alternative lifestyles. My poly/kink-knowledgeable approach means that I provide non-judgmental support and guidance to help you navigate these aspects of your life in a way that feels authentic and fulfilling to you. Together, we can explore and celebrate all aspects of your identity and experiences.
Please note that due to my specialties, I do not work with clients who are currently experiencing violence in their relationships or are actively in crisis.
